Medical Services

SDUIH allows for a complete comprehensive diabetes workup to meet national and Indian Health Services' Diabetes Standards of Care with same day results and no outside travel to other clinics for testing.

SDUIH lab services maintains a high quality of testing under a certificate of waiver called CLIA (clinical laboratory improvement amendments) for the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid services.  CLIA certifies the laboratory to perform only examiniations or procedures that have been approved as waived by the Department of Health and Human Services.  SDUIH offer in-house lab testing to include:

  • Hemoglobin A1C testing
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (GFR, Creatinine, BUN)
  • Urine Microalbumin
  • Glucose
  • Lipid Panel

EKGs (to assess for cardiac anomalies) are readily available at each of the three sites with trained providers in interpreting them.  Referals for abnormal readings are easily accessible.

Adult immunizations available to include:

  • Pneumococcal
  • Influenza
  • Tetanus Booster
  • Tuberculin Skin Testing

Comprehensive diabetes foot exams.

Medication assessment and diabetes management by trained primary care providers.

Referrals for yearly dental and diabetic eye exams are also available.
