American Indian/Alaska Native Project
In May 2007, ten American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) teams gathered in Portland, Oregon, for the Dialogue for Action AI/AN Working Meeting on colorectal cancer (CRC). The two-day meeting provided a forum for the teams to come together to discuss how to decrease CRC in their communities by increasing CRC awareness, education and screening. At the conclusion of the two-day meeting, each of the teams had begun crafting an action plan to implement in their communities. Since that time, they have made measurable progress in the face of varied and unique challenges.

New Addition to Pierre Clinic
South Dakota Urban Indian Health has completed the new addition to the Pierre clinic which includes several new additions to help patients improve their medical, nutrition and physical health.

The goal of South Dakota Urban Indian Health, Inc., is to provide quality health care for Native American people and the economically disadvantaged or medically underserved in the urban areas of South Dakota. SDUIH promotes a balance between physical, spiritual, behavioral, and mental health for the entire family. Wellness, prevention, and medical care are provided which are essential for a healthy community.
